Praise for GlossyBox September (Canada)

Good Morning Ladies,

I thought I would do a quick post today to let you all know I am alive.

Man alive, I have so many posts I want to write about but just haven't had the time to sit down and do them!  I'm sorry I missed the August Glossybox post but by the time I was ready to write that one I got a shipping notification for the September box!

Go figure.

I am still in the process of trying to figure out how to balance life, school, and blog.  School being the particular offender for time-eating.

If I ever figure out that magical balance equation I will let you know.

I received the September edition Glossybox last week (IN September, way to go glossybox!) and was pleasantly surprised by its contents.  They went a step beyond all other box companies and included something extra special.

But I am getting ahead of myself here.

Here is the pretty pretty box:

And the info card with the goods:

the goods:  (can you see what I was talking about?)

Wella Professionals Mirror Polish Shine Serum

Polish and smoothen any style with a high-gloss finish.
Full Size: 40ml for $16.99
Sample Size: FULL SIZE

Oh what fun I will have with this.  I haven't tried it yet but it looks fancy and is in a glass bottle.  And is FULL SIZE.  Already paid for the box

B. Kamins Lip Balm & Maple Body Lotion

Full Size Lip Balm: $21
Full Size Body Lotion: $41
Sample Size: ? Whoops I forgot to look...

A soothing anti-aging lip balm with Bio-Maple compound and UVA/UVB sunscreens that repairs and protects .
A luxurious anti-aging lotion infused with honey, Vitamins A&E and Bio-Maple compound for the ultimate hydration.  CANADIAN BRAND

So I thought these 2 made a nice edition to the box.  Its exactly what these companies should be doing:
- We have a brand I have never heard of
- It's a little to pricey for me to purchase right off the bat
- Actual "deluxe" size sample lets you get the feel for it .

You get a 10/10 for these samples, and I am really enjoying the lip balm!

Dove Cleartone

Full Size: $3.99- $4.99
Sample Size: ? Whoops I forgot to check...

Dove ClearTone is specifically created to help reduce underarm discolouration caused by dry skin from shaving.

Haha.... thanks? getting deoderant in these boxes is like getting a new razor, your going to need it eventually.

However, the scent of this particular stick leaves little to be desired....

NYX Cosmetics: The Crimson Amulet Collection

Full Size: $25
Sample Size: FULL SIZE

The Crimson Amulet Collection enriches your beauty by adding glamour to your red carpet splendour.

I must admit, this is a rather impressive edition to the box.  It was what I was speaking of earlier when I referred to them setting themselves apart from the rest.

As you can see it has a book-like design:

On the first page there are 24 eyeshadows (impressive)
On the second page it looks like 4 lip glosses, 5 blushes, highlighter, eyeliner and mascara.

Ok ladies, I am going to admit in the here and now that I wouldn't have much use for this palette.  I already own most of these shades (being the palette whore that I am) from different brands.  I think I will either
1. Throw it into my next giveaway or
2. de-pot it and put in in a Uni or Z palette...

Oh the choices.

I think this is just such a wonderful option to have in these boxes.  Because so many of the the subscribers are either teenagers or people who want to gain more experience with makeup.  This palette offers so many the ability to experiment with shades they otherwise wouldn't have thought of.

For those more versed in the land of makeup and skincare (you know who you are), it will most likely sit at the bottom of your stack of palettes (you know its true)

In conclusion, this month was a huge success.  Glossy managed to get the box out earlier than in previous months and included a full size palette.

If you are like me and like to ruin your surprise (oh yea) you may have noticed the twitter-verse and Facebookville had hundreds of women all screaming praise for Glossy Box.  All others who cancelled their subscription for some other discrepancy were green with envy.

This just goes to show you, give these subscription services the benefit of the doubt that they will pull through for you and listen.

Glossy certainly did.

P.S: I'm on facebook now.  I made fancy buttons on the top, right-hand corner of the blog so go and hit "like".
P.P.S: if you like the buttons (for your blog) I can send you the pictures and codes I used, just send me an email.  I thought they looked cool.

  1. What does it mean to de-pot it and put it in a Uni or Z palette? I'm too curious not to ask... I'm in the category of new-to-(eye)makeup so I have no clue what you're talking about!

    1. It means to take out each shadow/lip gloss/blush with a knife and put into a portable and customizable palette. I have a UNI palette which comes in a variety of shades and has a metal bottom so that you can just pop each de-potted product inside. It's a space saver and also keeps all of your most used products all together so that you don't have to find and open 10 separate products.

  3. I thought this was a great box too!
I don't know if you can balance all of those things...school is first and will always be first...I wasn't able to blog regularly until it was over! Blogging once a week with school, projects and work was hard enough!

  4. I thought it was a pretty good box. I know that the value isn't what they REALLY say. But, when we payed $15 for it we feel like we're getting a good deal!
