Illamasqua "Rubber Effects" Nail Varnish in Prosperity

Oh Hai There!

Tonight I am delighted to introduce you to a brand of nail polish and cosmetics I could not resist the other day while in Sephora.

Illamasqua

Meaning, "self-expression"

Which is as accurate of a statement as you can get when first browsing around on their website.  I was mystified and enthralled by the fantastic colors and intense pigments that lined the nail polish, eye shadow palettes and lipstick's (oh my!)

Illamasqua draws their roots from the theatre and film scene of 1920's Berlin (where professional makeup was born) and promotes fundamentals such as

Expressing your inner-self
non-conformity
freedom of expression
embracing imperfections

and to top it all off is against animal testing.

May I have one of everything please?

I am so pleased and excited to share with you this nail polish I got from Sephora which is part of their "Rubber Effects" line

The shade "Prosperity" (highly pigmented rich purple) caught my eye so I immediately knew this had to be the gunea pig.

When they refer to "Rubber Effects" its a new innovation where you apply to your nail, and the polish appears as a matte finish.  When its dry, it actually lives up to its claim as feeling rubbery.  Super cool!

Now as much as I enjoy a good matte nail polish from time to time I couldn't help but wonder if applying a glossy top-coat would ruin its staying power?

The answer is a definite NO.  In all the pictures I have 3 coats of polish and a glossy top coat and in my (humble) opinion looks fabulous.

Artificial Light

Yes, you loose the rubber effect "feel" but I think the rubber is supposed to be more for staying power than texture.

The bottle has a nice and sleek design with a simple rectangular shape and a rubbery lid (very fitting)

The brush is nothing to write home about (it gets the job done)

The real winner here is the formula! I have never owned a nail polish that applies this smoothly and evenly before and my nails look AMAZING!

I am so beyond impressed I WANT THEM ALL.   Christmas maybe?

Oh yes I almost forgot to mention,  the pictures above are taken after I had been wearing the polish for THREE days, and not a chip in sight!

There is one downside to this wondrous marvellous product:  The price.

$18

I don't think I'll be purchasing any time soon but you always have to treat yourself once and a while right?

Heres a few things we can all drool over from their website:

What do you think?

I'll have to do a bit more checking to se if they ship internationally....  all the prices are in Euros

Oh well, Have a great night! (or day depending on where in the world you are)
